On Friday, October 7 two of our students that participated in the <\/span>Find Your Voice writing program<\/span> were honored for a special accomplishment at the <\/span>916 Ink<\/span><\/a> Imaginarium. Maribella Smith and Lydia Robles are published writers and their poems were chosen by the Sacramento Poetry Center to appear inside Sacramento Regional Transit buses around the city! <\/span><\/p>\n

This year 916 Ink worked with the Sacramento Poetry Center to bring students\u2019 poems to the local RT system. Over 40 poems were submitted for review and six were chosen. The art will be displayed through January. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis program inspires our students and helps them find a creative outlet to express themselves,\u201d said Jody Graf, Executive Director at Visions In Education. \u201cStudents leave the class with a tangible accomplishment and skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Harmonize<\/span><\/p>\n

Can you hear my voice?
\n<\/span>Will you listen to my sound?
\n<\/span>It\u2019s weak, and it\u2019s pale,
\n<\/span>When no one else is around.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s tremulous, and strained.
\nIt\u2019s raw, and all mine.
\n<\/span>Because each voice needs another
\n<\/span>To sound truly divine.<\/span><\/p>\n

You sing your own song,
\nSo sweet and unique.
\n<\/span>And I\u2019ll sing my own.
\n<\/span>And maybe one day they\u2019ll meet.<\/span><\/p>\n

And we\u2019ll sing the same notes.
\n<\/span>And we\u2019ll speak the same words.
\n<\/span>And rejoice that our voices,
\n<\/span>Have finally been heard.<\/span><\/p>\n
